At long last, the 2026 MTG release calendar has been fully revealed. With seven sets on the docket, it’s safe to say that MTG players are in for a very busy year. Already, we’ve been bombarded with non-stop spoilers, and, for better or worse, that’s not going to stop anytime soon. Thankfully, while this is a lot to keep up with, each of the MTG sets we’re getting in 2026 does look fantastic.
In 2026, the MTG release schedule is populated by four in-universe releases and four Universes Beyond sets. While this move has already caused a good deal of controversy, there’s nevertheless plenty to look forward to. Whether you’re a fan of in-universe Magic or any of the multiple crossovers happening next year, 2026 shouldn’t disappoint.
MTG 2026 Release Schedule
Thanks to a Hasbro investor report in February, the exact release dates for each 2026 MTG set have been revealed. While this is good news for anyone looking to plan their year, admittedly, there’s not much time between each release. For now, here’s the entire MTG release schedule for 2026.

As always, throughout the year, we can expect more information about each set in the months leading up to its release. In recent years, a lot of information has come from MagicCon events around the world. This year, we’re getting three more MagicCons, which should be a delight to attend.

Lorwyn Eclipsed
Release Date: January 23rd, 2026
Kicking the year off with a bang, Lorwyn Eclipsed is easily the most anticipated set on the 2026 release calendar right now. As a return 19 years in the making, MTG players have been clamoring for a revisit to Lorwyn for almost two decades. Thankfully, upon release, this set didn’t disappoint in the slightest.
Since its release in January, new staples from this set have been running amok in constructed and Commander formats. Between the new Evoke Elementals empowering strategies in multiple formats and the various typal Commanders, players have been loving this set. Thankfully, after the insanely long wait for a return, Lorwyn Eclipsed really delivered, and will go down as one of the best MTG sets in years.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Release Date: March 6th, 2026
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles MTG set is a bit of a weird one. Not only are there tons of controversial pizza-themed cards in this set, but the spoiler season was rather messy, too. Thanks to massive leaks, the rares and mythics from this set were all revealed early, somewhat spoiling the show.
Outside of this unexpected problem, the TMNT MTG set does actually look pretty powerful. With plenty of unique toys for constructed players, and tons of Commanders too, there’s something for everyone here. This set even has some pretty pricy bonus sheet reprints, too, although they are somewhat scarce.
Secrets of Strixhaven
Release Date: April 24th, 2026
Returning to the fan-favorite plane of Arcavios, there was tons of hype going into Secrets of Strixhaven. Thankfully, this set was a real treat, offering oodles of flavor between its art, story chapters, and the dedicated book. On top of this, the set also had tons of powerful cards, especially for Commander players.
Not only did Secrets of Strixhaven have five precons to pick between, but the main set also has some insane new Commander cards. Couple these with the new constructed staples, and this set is an all-around slam dunk.
Marvel Super Heroes
Release Date: June 26th, 2026
When Magic: The Gathering first announced its partnership with Marvel, a set built around superheroes seemed inevitable. It turns out, in fact, that there are still multiple Marvel sets in the pipeline, so this barely scratches the surface. As with MTG Spider Man before it, however, this set hasn’t been able to escape controversy.
With players taking issue with the repeated legendary characters and art direction, it’s hard to say this set was beloved. That said, from a gameplay perspective, this set had a lot of positives. Not only are many of the Commander decks a great time, but there were plenty of fantastic cards, too. On top of these, and the litany of new Commanders, the set also had a stellar bonus sheet, helping to keep prices slightly down.
The Hobbit
Release Date: August 14th, 2026
Despite being the last smaller set for a long while, The Hobbit was a compelling last hurrah. While the Limited gameplay did have some problems, the set itself offered a wide array of exciting cards. Of course, Commander got plenty of love, and there were even some spicy reprints which appeared as box toppers.
While The Hobbit wasn’t the most powerful MTG set on the 2026 release calendar, it did have some great all-rounders. Thanks to shocking bans immediately following its release, too, some cards had an immediate competitive impact. Even if these new cards don’t end up performing long-term, it’s hard to go wrong with a Tolkien set.
Reality Fracture
Release Date: October 2nd, 2026
So far, all we really know about Reality Fracture is that it’ll feature The Echoverse, the new reality that Jace created. This set also takes us to Hexhaven, the reality-flipped version of Strixhaven from the main universe. Just what will happen to this new reality, however, and the long-term impacts are sadly unclear.
While many story details are still behind closed doors, Wizards has been rather generous with spoilers. Not only have the returning Lorwyn Five been shown off already, but the set’s big gimmick was revealed too. Thanks to clever printing, in each Reality Fracture pack, there’s a main multiverse and alternative reality Echoverse pair.
For now, even though details about Reality Fracture are limited, there’s no denying the set looks exciting. While there’s a lot riding on it, if Wizards gets it right, this set could easily be one of the all-time greats.
Mystery Booster: Commander Edition
Release Date: November 13th (MagicCon: Atlanta)
As a late addition to the 2026 MTG release calendar, Mystery Booster Commander Edition has quickly become one of the most anticipated releases this year. Featuring 59 brand-new cards and one fully legal Alchemy card, MTG players can’t wait to get their hands on this set. As if these new cards weren’t exciting enough, the set also has an insane collection of reprints to further supercharge demand.
Notably, unlike the other sets being released this year, Mystery Booster Commander Edition will only be available at MagicCon events. This immediately caused huge supply concerns; however, MTG Designer Mark Rosewater has since spoken out to ease worries. Still, with demand high, all eyes are on MagicCon: Atlanta and the connected Festival in a Box.
Star Trek
Release Date: November 20th, 2026
Despite being the last MTG set to be released in 2026, Wizards has already started revealing Star Trek cards. For better or worse, the majority of early spoilers aren’t hugely exciting, but the new signature cards certainly are. Admittedly, these cards aren’t beloved by everyone, but it’s certainly a collectible innovation for MTG, at least.
Regarding the set itself, it has been revealed that Star Trek will receive a full suite of four Commander precons. Alongside a hopefully healthy bonus sheet, this set could be a stellar experience. With spoilers not expected to continue until later in the year, however, we’ve still got a while to wait to find out.
